Basically, Disney added a line of dialogue at the very end as they drive away, where the father says "You know, going to a new school will be tough" and Chihiro replies with a sickly sweet "Oh, I think I can handle it" spoken in sort of cutesy "after what I've been through, I can handle anything" kind of way which at least heavily implies that she does remember it if not outright confirms it. And even though its just one line, it does kind of leave the viewer with this impression of "Chihiro was scared and shy at the beginning, she went through this adventure, now she can handle anything!" which I do *not* think was the message Miyazaki wanted to convey.

I agree, when I first watched it I thought Princess Mononoke was still far better. But it grew on me a LOT the second time I watched it, and now I think it is one of Miyazaki's greatest masterpieces. But yeah, Mononoke is something special (I will be gushing about that film later).

About the song I mention in the review, I'm referring to "Itsumo Nando Demo" (I should specify in the article).
I don't know why I didnt mention "Inochi no Namae" ( I guess cause it isn't technically part of the soundtrack), but yeah, I really like the Kimura version of Inochi no Namae. I'm just not really a fan of Ayaka's more pop-oriented singing style, but her concert performance is starting to grow on me a little, I admit.

How did Disney change the ending to make it unambiguous? I have the German UFA release and remember the dust on the car at the end as an indication that more than just a few minutes' time had passed since they left the car, and I also thought it was left ambiguous if she remembered anything or not (or was there more, would have to check, too lazy to throw in the DVD ;-) ).
So you didn't like this version of 'Inochi no Namae' sung by Yumi Kimura more that the one sung at the Ghibli concert by Ayaka Hirahara ? I think I like this song almost as much as 'Kimi o Nosete', and Ayaka Hirahara did really well at the concert, she might have trained quite a lot for it (of course she has for such a big event :-) ).
I must admit I was underwhelmed by 'Spirited Away' at first, but my opinion did change considerably to the better after a second watch, although I will never rate it as high as 'Princess Mononoke', which is the top Ghibli movie for me.
