I have read so much background about it, and many reviews I think, are biased by the fact that Hayao Miyazaki disapproved of his son directing it. I like his sense of humour, Jarinko Chie e.g. is really fun. :-) 'Porco Rosso' and 'Lupin, Castle of Cagliostro' also have Takahata's stamp. Haven't watched Omohide Poroporo yet, but will get the UFA release someday as I already have most of the UFA Ghibli DVD releases. On a side note, the only Ghibli DVD I needn't have bought is 'Gedo Senki', and I wasn't biased and wanted to like it. That movie definitely lacks the elder Miyazaki's pacing/narrative skills.
