I uh, fourth Aoi Bungaku ;) Also, I don't know how you felt about the original Darker Than Black, but they have the second season out now -- some people feel it's significantly different from the first and either hate or love it -- which I am enjoying.

It does seem like slim pickings this fall; I watched the first five episodes of Kampfer and Nyan Koi but they're kind of boringly typical of their sub-genres, and I only lasted four with Sacred Blacksmith (pretty generic with stereotypical characters).

But, I lean more towards seinen and josei anime and manga anyway. Stuff like Himitsu - The Revelation, Honey and Clover, and of course Seirei No Moribito (absolutely love) are high on my list of likes.

If you find any gems this season please post about it.

I've heard about Winter Sonata too. I'm a bit hesitant because it seems to walk the line between drama and melodrama. But, well, there's not much else so I guess I'll give it a chance.

Thanks for reminding me about Aoi Bungaku. I even remember mentioning it somewhere here, but it seems to have slipped my mind until now.

Third on Aoi Bungaku. It's about a guy with no soul, which is awesome.

Second on Aoi Bungaku. Winter Sonata also seems pretty good, and I've heard good things about it.

Seitokai no Ichizon might be worthwhile if you're into comedy, but I had a tough time maintaining my interest in the first episode. It seems pretty bland, but I'll reserve judgment until after I watch a couple more eps at least.

I'm having a tough time with the others. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is pretty generic, although it has it's moments. Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee) might be a good one, but I've only seen a couple of episodes, and it's tough to judge it.

I completely agree with your takes. Kimi ni Todoke is a pleasant surprise, and I hope they don't pace it to oblivion because I'm loving the manga. Kampfer got annoying really quick, and I had exactly the same thoughts about Kobato so far. Haven't seen Blacksmith, might give it a shot.

Have you tried Aoi Bungaku yet? I think that's the "hidden gem" of this season. Love Cross Game, btw.
