I really want to post, Part 2
Originally an update/reply to Author in my previous post, I’ll extend it in it’s own posting.
In his post, he responds to someone called “Theowine” which sounds suspiciously close to my own name and links to some of his suggestions. I’ll take the bait:
Kimi ni Todoke: As said before, it’s good, probably the best show this season. The main character is likable, and if the male lead started to have some flaws, it could get even better. I suppose you could say we’re getting a biased perception of him from Sawako’s perspective. We’ll see.
Kenpufer: According to the description, we follow an average high schooler who gets magical powers and has to have the body of a girl to utilize them. Pass.
Kobato: A likable show, but an adorable main character usually can’t carry a show for me alone. I’m still in the process of giving it a chance, though (the premise, for some reason, makes me think of Natsume Yuujinchou, which is a good thing).
Sora no Otoshimono: psgels at Star Crossed doesn’t like fanservice humour, and my tastes aren’t too far off. Pass.
The Sacred Blacksmith : Generic. Pass.
As for the others, I don’t watch sequels if their originals didn’t interest me.
Feel free to throw out anything else in the comments that I may have missed. Or if any of you think I am giving one of these series an unfair shake. Until then, I’ll maintain my skepticism about this season.

P.S. There’s an ongoing Cross Game evangelization going on at Animesuki. I’ve tried to blog about the underrated baseball-themed slice-of-life series here, but it really isn’t one of those shows that lends itself to episodic blogging, which I’m not really all that good at to begin with. psgels, one of the few bloggers who sees its worth, is the only one I’ve seen doing it regularly, with infrequent posts about it also appearing on the Scrumptious Anime Blog. Apparently Baka Raptor is a fan as well, confirming that he has some kind of soul. I have a draft for a comparison between Touch and Cross Game that I will probably finish someday.

Have you tried Aoi Bungaku yet? I think that’s the “hidden gem” of this season. Love Cross Game, btw.
Second on Aoi Bungaku. Winter Sonata also seems pretty good, and I’ve heard good things about it.
Seitokai no Ichizon might be worthwhile if you’re into comedy, but I had a tough time maintaining my interest in the first episode. It seems pretty bland, but I’ll reserve judgment until after I watch a couple more eps at least.
I’m having a tough time with the others. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is pretty generic, although it has it’s moments. Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee) might be a good one, but I’ve only seen a couple of episodes, and it’s tough to judge it.
I completely agree with your takes. Kimi ni Todoke is a pleasant surprise, and I hope they don’t pace it to oblivion because I’m loving the manga. Kampfer got annoying really quick, and I had exactly the same thoughts about Kobato so far. Haven’t seen Blacksmith, might give it a shot.
Third on Aoi Bungaku. It’s about a guy with no soul, which is awesome.
I’ve heard about Winter Sonata too. I’m a bit hesitant because it seems to walk the line between drama and melodrama. But, well, there’s not much else so I guess I’ll give it a chance.
Thanks for reminding me about Aoi Bungaku. I even remember mentioning it somewhere here, but it seems to have slipped my mind until now.
I uh, fourth Aoi Bungaku
Also, I don’t know how you felt about the original Darker Than Black, but they have the second season out now — some people feel it’s significantly different from the first and either hate or love it — which I am enjoying.
It does seem like slim pickings this fall; I watched the first five episodes of Kampfer and Nyan Koi but they’re kind of boringly typical of their sub-genres, and I only lasted four with Sacred Blacksmith (pretty generic with stereotypical characters).
But, I lean more towards seinen and josei anime and manga anyway. Stuff like Himitsu – The Revelation, Honey and Clover, and of course Seirei No Moribito (absolutely love) are high on my list of likes.
If you find any gems this season please post about it.
