Very truthful and good review. Last Exile definitely had it’s flaws, but I still enjoyed it. Your statement about how it could be a favorite is very true for me too, but it just didn’t really get there.

Last Exile’s megabudget amplified all of GONZO’s strengths and faults. In particular I’m shocked, shocked to learn that money cannot buy competent direction or coherent ending.

Interesting review. I liked Last Exile enough to purchase it after it was released but as I think of it, I find I have never re-watched it since I first purchased it years ago. Maybe it is because the character stories were lacking is why I’ve never gone back. Certainly I found Last Exile to be a beautiful piece with great music and a good story but there has to be a reason that I never have gone back to watch the series. ^_^;
